A CONSCIOUS CHOICE

Omsi is aware that the choice of materials, their manufacture, construction, maintenance, demolition and disposal have repercussions on both the environment and the health of users, so it is dedicated to supporting initiatives aimed at sustaining and restoring the environment; it was recently involved in the renovation of the ‘Roi-Bauduin’ stadium in Brussels, Belgium.

FASE 1

RECYCLING

The 50 thousand or so stadium seats were dismantled by Omsi and sent to a recycler nearby where the recycling process started:

1. the seats were washed and the different materials were separated according to nature and technical properties
2. the materials were shredded
3. the composition of the resulting flakes was analysed
4. the flakes were sold to manufacturers
5. new objects were made from recycled plastic materials

FASE 2

THE NEW SEATS

Omsi used state-of-the-art injection moulding technology to make the seats installed at the Roi-Bauduin stadium in Brussels. The following models were installed:

  • 36,400 high-back monobloc M2008 seats on spacer
  • 12,000 high-back monobloc M2008 seats on riser mounted bracket
  • 1,200 monobloc with high back M2008 seats on beam
  • 610 Caravaggio VIP tip-up seat
  • 96 M2013 VVIP tip-up seat

WE HAVE REDUCED THE USE OF RAW MATERIALS FROM THE ENVIRONMENT BY 74.57%

The polypropylene used for these new seats is derived from post-consumer and industrial waste certified by IPPR (Institute for the Promotion of Recycling Plastics). It ensures the maximum reliability and strength to the seats as well as minimal environmental impact throughout their life cycle.
